Sonic, Rayman, and more in latest additions to GamePro CD collection

We’ve added 100 new CDs to our collection of press assets from GamePro magazine. See what’s new!

This week, we added the next 100 CDs from our GamePro press CD collection to our digital archive!

As we explained last year, we’ve been digitizing a massive collection of CDs from the art department at GamePro magazine. These discs contain the raw artwork and screenshots that game publishers sent to GamePro. If you want to see the original art that was used to market classic video games, this may be one of the largest surviving collections of this material!

Our latest batch (CDs 201–300) covers late 1998 through late 1999. This period marked the final years of the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 era. Games featured in this latest expansion include Ape Escape, Bust-A-Groove, Sonic Adventure, Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Legend of Legaia, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Super Smash Bros., and more.

Artwork from Pac-Man World. Pac-Man is running around a temple maze, pursued by ghosts.

Artwork from Sonic Adventure of Amy Rose chilling out on a blanket and drinking a soda.

Artwork from Legend of Legaia, depicting three of the main characters looking out over a landscape.

A poster for the game Soulcalibur, depicting the Soul Calibur sword with the caption "The legend will never die."

Artwork of Samus Aran from Super Smash Bros.

Artwork from Ape Escape, depicting the characters Spike and Jake being thrown into the air by the villain Specter.

We wanted to highlight two notable games in this set:

CDs 231, 233, and 234 include promotional artwork for Silent Hill, like this rarely seen early logo with punched-out letters, emphasizing the game’s shadowy themes and visuals.

And CD 211, from Nintendo of America, contains some of the only surviving screenshots of the unreleased Rareware game Twelve Tales: Conker 64.

Conker in a Roman helmet running away from a cyclops.

A scarecrow telling Conker to punch with the B button.

Berri, a female squirrel character, walking around with a group of dinosaurs.
